Let's talk homesick

The word homesick is so overused in my dictionary. I have lived abroad, away from my family, since I was 18 years old when I went to finish my high school in Italy.

I have a vivid memory of my homesickness. It was my first week in Italy, as usual, me and my parents had a Sunday Skype session. We were talking and suddenly, I teared up.

"I want to go home," my homesick self said.

My parents pretended that the connection was bad and they did not hear what I said. They hang up. It was pretty cruel for them to do it but now I see their reason for doing that: there is no turning back.

There are so many stories and topics I can touch on being homesick. We all miss home every once in a while! It's such a relevant subject too for a on campus housing institution such as Wartburg that requires students to live on campus. I hope we can explore those homesick stories and learn from them and realize: you are NEVER ALONE.

Bisous,
Rut

  1. I still get homesick when I am away from my wife for a few days! This should be an interesting topic, I'm looking forward to it.

  2. The topic is very interesting . I don't think I have been homesick before,The closest thing to home sick was last last year when I started missing my sister unexpectedly . Being away from college made me value her a lot more. When I firts started collge I did not think would miss her as much as I did .
